Here are DigitUX, we are very excited for another year with new and improved digital marketing strategies, tools, services and tactics to reflect the ever-changing digital landscape.
While there’s a ton of new trends emerging in the digital world, we’ve noted 3 key digital marketing trends to watch in 2019 – let’s jump in!
1. VOICE SEARCH
It’s no surprise that as mobile search continues to rise, so too does the usage of voice searches – not to mention the latest ‘in-home assistant’ devices, such as Google Home, that people are coming to rely on.
ComScore estimates that, by 2020, half of all search queries will be voice-based.
In 2019, it’s time to start considering the differences between text and voice searches, and more specifically, what your customers might be using in their speech to search for items and services as opposed to their text searches.
Once you’ve established these differences or worked with a reliable SEO company to target these “speech” keyphrases, then it’s time to go ahead and optimise your website accordingly.
Remember, technology and algorithms are only going to improve with higher accuracy so be sure to jump on this now and enhance as technology enhances too.
Bonus tip! You might want to start by making your website mobile friendly (if you haven’t already), as there’s really no point in implementing all your hard work on “speech” keyphrases if your site isn’t going to rank in mobile in the first place!
Ok, so these might be a bit slow on the uptake, but they are finally starting to get the credit they deserve. As people become busier in their day to day lives, and more dependent on seeking assistance “right now”, Chatbots are a great solution.
In fact, by 2022, it’s estimated that chatbots will help businesses save over $8 billion per year.
So, what can Chatbots do? Well, they are great for customer service. Whether it’s to greet a website visitor or to answer a quick question they might have about a product or service they’ve seen on your website, they make a great first impression. For existing customers, they can help to check the delivery date of a product that’s been ordered or to double check an appointment time – just to name a couple.
The more sophisticated chatbots also feature automated responses, which is just another way that your business can deliver higher and faster rates of customer service with less costs.
Before implementing a chatbot, be sure to remember that they are not a replacement for human contact (although you can use a human to operate one), and that the automated chatbots are only going to get better with time.
If you’re not already doing so – get into video marketing! These days, video is highly popular and not just on YouTube. Video marketing is great on a social level as well, such as Facebook Live, Instagram or even LinkedIn.
There are many ways in which businesses are using video, including product demonstrations, Q&As, office ‘tours’, interviews as well as how products are made.

In 2019, it’s so easy to make a video. Whether it’s simply just using your smartphone camera or investing in some affordable filming equipment, a video can be made in minutes.

4. VISUAL SEARCH
This is a relatively new form of search which can take the user experience (UX) to a whole other level. Visual search allows users to upload an image to get more specific results, as opposed to typing the query or speaking it.
The most popular of these is Google Lens, which is a visual search engine by Google. This visual search engine identifies all different types of landmarks and objects. For example, if you take a photo of a book, Google Lens will provide a number of different details on this such as a blurb, author, reviews and more.
Visual search isn’t only limited to Google, there are heaps of other businesses taking advantage. For instance, Pinterest has recently released a new visual search tool that allows users to take a photo of an item to find out where to buy it online, search for similar products, or view pinboards of related items.
